Stillness and Soul is a photographic exploration of the quiet dialogue between the external world and the inner self. Bringing together the work of three Melbourne-based photographers – this exhibition invites viewers into a space where time slows and the landscape becomes a mirror for emotion, memory, and presence.
Anne, Kaye and Sally are Melbourne-based photographers who have exhibited widely and originally met through the Melbourne Camera Club, where they discovered a shared love for capturing the beauty of nature and landscapes. Through their friendship, encouragement and support they opened personal boundaries to explore creativity, techniques and concepts within their preferred subject matter.
In Stillness and Soul, the boundaries between memory and place, nature and self, gently blur. The result is a contemplative collection that invites viewers to slow down, breathe in and perhaps find a piece of themselves reflected in the silence.
Biographies
Anne Shellard brings her love of travel and natural beauty into her work, capturing scenes that speak of connection – to place and to the fleeting moments that shape our sense of the world. With a storyteller’s eye, she weaves visual narratives that capture the viewer.
Sally Paterson explores both natural environments and built structures within the landscape, often combined through in-camera creative techniques. Her work is characterised by unique compositions that layer elements of the man-made and organic. Through this gentle merging of forms, her images invite the viewer to consider the relationship between place, memory, and perception.
Kaye Linsdell’s contribution will further enrich the exhibition with her unique perspective, completing this thoughtful triad of visual voices. In BIFB 2023 Kaye exhibited photographs of her Father’s workshop. This 2025 exhibition expands on her love of an intimate space to her embracing the serenity she achieves in the natural environment.
